    Im currently using an asus k52f until i upgrade again { i know its super old}

    i know i can run command and conquer generals on it because i did when i first first got it,
    i had to revert back to this because my most recent laptop went bad.

    although when i start it up it ends up saying

    make sure you have dirext 8.1 or better { i think i do} and make sure your card meets the requirements '

    i know it does cause i ran generals on it back in the day.

    is there something i need to do about the resolution or direct x? do i need to downoad anything?

    {ive reset with wndows 7}

    DX8.1 is radeon 8500 era aka 2001.

    You will want to keep the resolution and details low to help make it as playable as possible.
