I would like a laptop that can play Age of Empires III on medium to high performance settings without any lag.

I was looking at the dell studio 15, but that seems to get terrible user reviews, because of hardware failure and bad customer service. So what asus laptop is comparable to the studio 15.

also can anyone make any suggestions on a laptop, even if it is not an asus?

AoEIII will play fine on any ASUS laptops. The Graphics for the game are not demanding at all.

nothing much: internet browsing, watching videos on youtube and other websites,
and working on word and powerpoint projects for school

if it had an hdmi out that would be great, because I've got a monitor that supports hdmi, but a regular computer cable out port would work

i also prefer to not have vista...

I would recommend one of the following systems then:

    K40IJ-D2
    K50IJ-D2
UL50AG-A2 ($775, but the best laptop for daily use as it gets up to 12hrs battery life)

yes, AOE III is not a graphic intense game at all. You should have no issues with it on max settings at all.

Actually, Age III barely ran on my desktop ATI 2600 pro at 1280x1024 with medium graphics. You should get a notebook with dedicated graphics. Intel graphics won't handle it at anything besides low settings. An Nvidia 210 or 310 would sorta handle it, a 330 would be better.
