    asus m50 webcam dissapeared

    hi, i have windows xp installed on my asus m50. the webcam had been working fine for the first week. but earlier all of a sudden when I was using the webcam with yahoo messenger, the webcam stop working. and then I had a prompt that a new usb device was installing. now in device manager under universal serial bus controllers, it list an unknown device. i tried uninstalling but it keeps reinstalling itself. i tried reinstalling the webcam drivers and it says install failed. please help me!

    Instead of uninstall driver, you can delete device, reboot computer and when you have message 'new ... device is found' take care to install proper driver from ASUS drivers disk.
    What is really intriguing is the way your webcam was hijacked

    Dougbrad82, Im having the same issue with my m50 webcam. The only thing is im using vista 64. I tried it with xp and 32. Its the same problem. I fear its a hardware issue.

    well guess the problem has corrected itself. the only thing I did was reboot in safe mode and then boot normally. didnt uninstall any drivers or anything, so dont know what the problem was or how it was fix :confused:
