To quote the ASUS web site the M5N is dothan ready.
"IntelĀ® new generation 90 NM process processo *A
    1MB On-Die L2 Cache
(*A Available in March 2004. Subject to availability)"

As for how to upgrade the CPU try contacting ASUS in your local area and ask them for the pdf manual.
And also check this thread for info similar to this. Its about upgrading the M3 and M6!

Hihi, if you look at other thread you'll notice i built my m3000n for around usd800+ which is very cheap. My friend bought a gateway 200x, spec is almost same as mine but he spent 1400+, the thing is that his battery is only 3 cell, which can last for about 2 hours. A high capacity battery from gateway (which i think is 6 cell), cost another usd100 :p. Think about this before you buy.

Anyway, if you need the m3000n manual i can also send it to you, maybe that will help you to figure out how to install cpu/ram/hdd on the m5

I own M5N for about 1 month. So far I'm very very satisfied with my decision buying this one. I did tons of research before chose M5N.

As for memory upgrade, mine came with 256MB. So I bought another SoDIMM 256 MB, now I have 512 MB in total. It's really easy to upgrade the RAM. You just have to open the screw, the manual describes the layout so you can easily find the memory compartment. Fyi, total RAM is limited to 768 MB, AFAIK. For me it's more than enough.

I have no idea about the processor upgrade. The manual stated about it, but mainly it said that you have to visit the service centre.

You can also get the softcopy of hardware user's manual from Asus website, download section.

FYI: The thread was 14 months old. That's a pretty big bump.

May I ask what the heck this was even bumped for? I hate that I'm bumping it again by asking.... but seriously... we're two models past this already and the bump doesn't make much sense..... most of these people probably aren't even here anymore.
