hi i've just gotten my new asus n82jv , but i'm having problem with the optimus

i've downloaded the optimus state viewer that enables me to see wheter optimus is turned on or off , but even after forcing a program to run on the nvidia graphic card , the state viewer still shows that the nvidia gpu is still off

so does anyone have the same experience with the n82jv and optimus, and could you share some tips how to make it work , since this laptop is quite good , but the problem with the optimus is quite annoying since i can't use the dedicated card for playing at all

Don't bother with the state viewer or asus drivers. Download the 258.96 drivers from the nvidia website. Make sure to completely uninstall and driver sweep your previous drivers first. The new 258's put a tray icon telling you whats using the nvidia card.

    My n82jv's optimus works fine.

i've tried downloading the 258.96 driver but it said that it couldn't find a compatible driver for my product.

i've also found an optimus driver 189.79 from nvidia's website . can this also fix my system

no. The 258.96's work. I couldn't get optimus to work with the 189 drivers.

First, make sure youre downloading the correct 32 or 64bit version of the driver from the nvidia website. Then uninstall both the intel and nvidia drivers from the device manager. Install the newest intel HD driver first, then the nvidia driver. Make sure to restart when it prompts.

Hi, i have recently bought this computer and i'm really mad cause a lot of blue screens because of the drivers have appeared to me and all that. I will use your advice but first tell me exactly what version of intel to download because now i think it will be one version a lot newer than the one you recomend that time. Or maybe you know that here is another update for the n82jv optimus driver. please help!

ps my english is not the best...sry
