Yeap, all transformers/AC Adapters get ridiculously hot, no matter which brand it is. My Vantec USB HD also gets quite toasty after an hour of usage.

I think how much power your computer consumes has a lot to do with it. My old P4's power adapter could give people 3rd burns if they touched it after prolonged use, but my new Core 2 laptop's transformer remains cool to warm to touch even after I leave the laptop on the entire night

It depends on the pattern of usage. Also, systems with a GPU will tend to use more power and make it heat up faster.

It's also sometimes the luck of the draw. Under light use conditions, my V1Jp's dock power brick gets warm, but never gets blistering hot. The travel/normal power brick gets a bit warmer, but only to the degree that it takes holding it for about 15 seconds before it gets uncomfortably hot. Meanwhile, the Z96Js I had before I returned it had a REALLY hot power brick under ANY condition and it didn't take very long for it to happen. They were all Delta power bricks, and except for the dock, they're both 90W (the dock has a 120W power brick which works only on the dock).

I would try another power brick if possible.
