My wireless connection keeps dropping on me often. I think what's happening is that it keeps switching between my 5 ghz and 2.4 ghz connections every so often automatically and there is a drop during the switch.

Is there a way to have it just stay on the 5 ghz connection? None of my other devices seem to have this problem on the same network.

Try updating the WLAN driver to the latest version.
Can you check in the device manager to find out the actual model # of your Intel Wireless card?

    WLAN driver for Win8

    WLAN driver for Win7

You should be able to configure the WLAN properties by going to Device Manager » Right click on wireless adapter » Properties. There should be options for AUTO, 2.4 GHz, or 5 GHz if I recall correctly.
