Looks like the RAM is either faulty, the wrong kind, or its not installed properly..

    Any more info?

I agree with coriolis...sounds like something is not installed properly, or is faulty.

Try reseating the RAM and/or hard drive... if the problem persists, try the OLD RAM/hard drive again to see if it still works.

    Hmmm...

Are you sure you pushed the RAM all the way in?

I know at first it seems so delicate and you don't want to hurt your new baby(awwwww.... :p), but push it all the way in!!!!

    The RAM is right though...

    Interesting...
can you tell us more info about the notebook?
Did you put EVERYTHING together yourself? (CPU, hard drive, RAM, wireless card...etc)

I apologize for asking, if you've already done so, but I assume the power is plugged in?

When you turn it on, are there any lights? Do you hear motherboard beeps?

Have you checked to see if the CPU is seated properly? Is the screw turned locking it in place?

Was the CPU checked for DOA before it shipped to you?

Maybe it's just something dumb like... try removing the battery and putting it back in. Sometimes that works for some weird reason.

but, there is definitely power running through it, right?

if so, and it refuses to post, you need to either find a way to test your RAM in the 2nd slot, or test your RAM in another laptop.

If the RAM works in a different board, then your mboard RAM slot that you're using might be defective.

There's no way you can access the 2nd RAM slot, at all? Another screw driver perhaps?

That sounds bad... so you damaged the screw while trying to remove it?

Hm, that poses quite a dilemma then.

The only reliable method to figure out what is causing the problem is by the process of elimination. Testing the RAM on another machine. Testing the CPU on another machine. Testing other RAM and CPU on your mboard.

If you can't access it, then I'm not sure how to determine the issue. I assume you made an effort as Coriolis suggested to insert the RAM all the way in securely.

The LCD could even be DOA.

Assuming you can open the back panel, do you have a way to test the above with another machine?

You may need to buy those blue foamy ahesives to get that screw out ASAP, you shouldn't leave it in there.

Does the LED on the powerbutton light up?

That's bad news...until you get that screw loose/out, we can't really diagnose much else...

I know there is a brand of blue coloured material you 'spray' on the stripped screw so you can easily take it out, but I don't know what's it called or where to get it.

Your best bet is to either email the place you got it from, or head to BestBuy/Staples/etc. and ask them.

No idea for the stripped screw, but if you like, you can take a risk and order another RAM stick to see if it works.

I wouldn't recommend it though since it could be your mboard RAM slot, CPU not seated, LCD issue, or the RAM itself.

Could you RMA the barebone for another?

In that case, is there a local computer store where you might have your RAM stick tested?
