Where is the main headquarters of Asus located?

And where are their laptops assembled? Any made in the US? All in Taiwan?

These are some questions my dad would like to know before he'll consider letting me get one :p (I'm 90% sure I want an Asus)

Asus has U.S. offices in California (City of Industry, CA) but their based in Taiwan, as 90% of notebook makers are. I'm not totally sure if they're assembled there.

Taiwan is where they're headquartered, but have subsidiary offices in every country they import to and in North America they are located in Fremont, CA.

Most of the notebooks are made in Taiwan, some are now made in their expanded Chinese factory..... If they were made in the US, laptops would still be up in the 4-5grand range.

If your father doesn't know Asus, he probably can't appreicate them.... tell him that no laptops are made in the US and 90 some percent of every laptop made in the world comes out of a little corner of Taiwan....... you're not going to find anything better than what Asus puts out either.

Asus North America is located in Fremont, CA. Fremont is between San Jose and San Francisco, basically the silicon valley of CA. Their main headquarters is in Taiwan. I'm not sure about where they actually manufacture their computers...I'm pretty sure it's China. Heck, everyone manufactures their notebooks in China.

If you're worried about the time it will take for you to send your notebook in for repair and such other issues, then you shouldn't worry too much. I read in another thread that someone had to send in their laptop and it took about 5 days for them to get it back to him. All North American Asus computers are sent to Asus North America in Fremont.

Almost all of anyone's laptops will be made in Taiwan, Malaysia, or China.

Asus is best known for desktop motherboards and they were (and still pretty much are) ROCK solid). I bought one of their mobo's for a Pentium 200 Mhz MMX somewhere around 1995 I think, and it was working fine when I sold the system for $15 last fall.
