Do these drivers even work with X1700?

I need updated drivers. I just bought Half life: Episode 1 and i cant play it. I had a look at some forums and it said updated drivers are needed for the crash i am experiencing.

I bought a F3JP believing that it could play most games, I know its not a games machine but the advertising for it says True life gaming or something yet there are no new drivers.

    I'm running Xp Pro.

I have the A8JP with the x1700 and can confirm that the mobility driver installed without a hitch on XP Pro. I don't play Half Life, so I can't tell you if 7.5 will fix the crashes.

    Thanks Tokerblue,

Did you just uninstall your current drivers and follow the link above?

I thought ATI stopped supporting mobility updates? Is there a link to the actual page where it shows this driver?

Installed on my A8JP running x1700. No problems. Except I like the earlier version that came with A8JP better. This version doesn't seem to have the same (or as many) options. So may switch back.

No problems with installing or using them though. Haven't checked for gaming.

Just installed modded desktop driver 7.5 for Vista 32-bit, so far so good with one small problem with my external LCD. Apparently it doesn't like the refresh rate my x1700 is giving it so I had to bump up to 75Hz. Otherwise OK.

I'll update if I run into any more problems.

OK, so trying the modded drivers wasn't a good idea :D. Any type of full-screen gaming on the external monitor pushes a bad refresh rate to the monitor (a Samsung 941BW btw), resulting in no screen whatsoever and an invalid refresh rate warning on the external. No way to override it, either.

Oh well, back to the old drivers...

I am using DHMod with 7.4 x64 drivers for Vista, and the external event monitor service, which is responsible for PowerPlay, crashes at boot. Why I should even have to do it in the first place is beyond me.

    Things never change with ATI.

Has anyone installed these drivers in the X1700. If so how did it go and is there any benefit? Also did you follow the link on this page, if not where did you get the drivers from?

    Thanks
