When i got my g72gx i was told there were settings you could change that would change the color of the led lights, the logo on the top of the case as well as the keyboard backlight, but i'm either havin a blind moment and not seeing it, or else the guy was full of it, anyone know if its true?

The light on the lid of the G71GX is always blue, you can't change its color, nor the color of the keyboard backlight.

figures, how difficult is it to change the lights themselves, as in the hardware? and where would be a good spot to get new ones, that white of the keyboard creates massive glare a nice red or blue would work much better
