hello all,
i have question about the warranty of an asus z33a barebone i bought from ncix
i bought it in december 2005 and at the moment, the battery is pretty much dead. as soon as i unplug the ac adapter on the notebook, windows indicates it has 5 minutes left till no juice. according to nhc, the wear level is 94% with a full capacity of 1342 mWh
so from my understanding, all asus barebone have one year manufacturer warranty, except for the screen.
in my situation, do i contact asus directly or do i contact ncix and see what they have to say. for me, it might be simpler to contact asus directly ncix is in BC and im in ON[tario].
and comments/opinions is much appreciated
thanks

after 1 year the battery warranty usually expires, regardless of the actual warranty on the laptop... so around 11 months or so i usually just send the battery in and get a new one... if yours cannot hold a charge at all you should try both ncix and asus depending on who you have the 1 year warranty with (im guessing asus) and call them up to get a replacement battery!!! and hurry before december comes and you lose warranty!!!!

thanks for your feedback
now according to nhc, the battery has a capacity of 70000+ mWh which is way too large for the 3 cell battery that came with the notebook
running the battery calibration util in the bios does nothing to help
now windows think i have 10+ hours before the battery is dead, so naturally after roughly 45 min., the computer just shuts down with no warnings
would that be enough to warrant a battery replacement by asus? -

On any Asus notebook - barebone or ensembles, no matter where you bought it from, the battery has a year warranty. For a barebone, you need to go back through your dealer to claim it, but if your battery has more than about 15% wear before a year, they'll replace the battery no problem.
