Hi gang,
I lost my asus install disc so i tried downloading all the drivers from the web and installing them manually, except i get this one that says "base system device" i tried clicking on the name and searching online but that didn't work. anyone know what driver i need for this one?
thanks.

what laptop do you have? there is one driver like UD something or other i think that installs a bunch of **** for your hardware. just make sure you have all the drivers im sure your missing one.

sorry i have a asus z63a. i installed the UAA stuff, the ATK100, there's a modem, sound and video drivers and i installed all of those.
-
My first guess was the UAA driver try that again. I had the same issue with one and it was that driver. there also and intel INF file on the asus site for that you could try that as well. either you missed something or it wasnt properly installed.

Assuming you can finish install, some good articles for resolving XP device driver problems include: Troubleshooting Device Conflicts with Device Manager at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=310126
and Troubleshoot Device Driver Problems found at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/expert/mcfedries_03may12.mspx
Also, try reinstalling your chipset drivers or installing more updated ones.
Hope this helps
