Can anybody recommend any battery repacking companies who can repack (and hopefully increase the life of) Li-Ion battery packs?

Ya know I thought about this the other day. There was an article about how these expensive laptop batteries are just regular rechargable batteries inside. Total cost about $12. Then they sell them for over $100

I know a friend who has replaced his old battery by himself. Just bought some high-end lithium-ion batteries, opened the battery case (carefully) swapped the old for the new.

They aren’t just your regular AA's. I think they are higher voltage, like 3v's per cell. And are usually lithium ion cells. But really they should cost no where near $100...

I'll tell you guys right now, before you go and try to screw with the packaging on your Asus batteries, just go buy another one for backup. I can tell you from experience that I consider the notebook's chassis' really a one time assembly - meaning that they go together and really aren't meant to be taken apart without damaging them - then the batteries really are meant to go together one time. The notebook chassis', if you get good with them, can come apart with some time and skill...... However, if you can get an Asus battery apart without physically breaking the case, you're simply awesome.... It's close to impossible. I've helped take apart about a dozen batteries of late trying to pin down the make and model of all of them. Now, once you get the case off, the batteries are rather easy..... but like Jason said, they're not AA's..... they're more the size of C's actually, but it's not something Energizer puts out on the shelf.....

Now, I did mod a battery once....... it was back in the day on an M1 and I took the batterys out of an M2 I believe which were better, but had the same set up..... basically just the case needed to be swapped...... outside of that, it's not something I'd suggest unless you have an extra battery... maybe even one that's dead or bad and the time and know how to mess around with them... if you screw them up and somehow burn out your motherboard ---- remember -- that'd be a bad thing.
