Disappointed I can't use my 27"iMac or the Apple Cinema display as an external monitor for my Asus laptop. Can anyone make some suggestions for best alternatives?

All of the output are limited to 1080P so your best alternative is to convert an USB 3.0 port to DisplayPort which will provide up to 4K support.

Please note that these adapters will only allow you to use those monitors in 2D mode only, no gameplay will be allowed since these are not high performance GPU at all.
