i was just wondering which power management tool is the best?

right now i have centrino hardware control and power4gear installed and i want to narrow it down to just one because i don't want the 2 programs conflicting.

Personally, I don't like using both programs. I uninstalled power4gearas CHC works much better for me. i'd recommend you do the same.

Centrino Hardware Control is definitely the more versatile one. I'm sure most people will choose that over Power4Gear

Power4 gear, u can go to 600mhz mode, 200mhz lower than CHC for word and excel, also temps run cooler on P4G (not considering undervolting of course and is something i will never do)

I don't know about you... but I can run my M6Ne at 600 MHz whenever I want.

I see no temperature difference between P4G and CHC... and when I undervolt with CHC, my temps go WAAAY down.

My MAX PERFORMANCE voltage (when undervolted) is lower than the BATTERY OPTIMIZED voltage of the processor on stock settings.
    In other words:
    Default settings:
    Max Performance: 1.340v
    Max Battery: 0.988v

    Undervolted settings (with CHC):
    Max Performance: 0.940v
    Max Battery: 0.700v

My understanding is that the older Pentium Ms (numbers ending in 5) have a minimum clock speed of 600MHz while the newer Pentium Ms (numbers ending in 0) have a minimum clock speed of 800MHz. If you have got the voltage down at 0.7V (the lowest available setting) then the CPU running at 800MHz has the potential to do 1/3 more work.

I agree... I enjoyed RMclock quite a lot; I feel that its undervolting abilities are more straightforward and more effective than CHC's...
however, with CHC I can control my fan behaviour much better than I can with any other program... which is why I choose to use it. SPeedfan wouldn't really do anything for me...

it took me a while to get speedfan to work how it should, but now it's great. barely comes on and rarely goes past 1500

When is the next release of CHC anyhow? I could use some more features. Like detection of additional sensors.
