i have the g50-av2. no raid set up, vista64. with removed jumpers on HHDs. last night i updated bios to 205, did the hard drive indexing tweak (the vista search tweak) installed alone in the dark, watched the intro, nothing else. this morning turned on laptop got the microsoft loading bar on the bottom then the black screen flash, then a blue screen with just the cursor the hour glass comes up for a couple of seconds, hear the HHD running then all goes quite and only the blue screen and the cursor are there. i can move the cursor with the pad or mouse but theres no error on screen, nothing. ive tried the F9 partion, restore i get to the window to click go ahead to run then it starts up to run i get the microsoft bar on the bottom HDD starts fan kicks int hen all goes quite....blue screen- nothing else, this is the same with the recover disk, i get to the boot screen it say select where to run, both HHDs and recover disk show up, click recover disk, and you guessed it, bluray drive kicks on things start turning then the frickin blue screen... ok so now i try the safe mode. but now i get, safe mode in all four corners, with a black screen, and nothing else, btw ive only tried the safe mode with limited drivers (i think thats what its called) so is there any hope in solving this my self? ive only had it for 5 days, so newegg or asus is a option (i hope) so now i'm in express gate and that works fine  but i cant download drives our what-not from here/save to flash drive. i will be able to do so on the school computers tomorrow, if thats a option? thanks bob... OK so i found an error code. when i hit F8 in the in hdd recovery... file:\boot\memtest.exe

Try reflashing your bios... sounds like memory corruption, hopefully fixed with a reflash of the bios or a bios downgrade

i can get into the bios by using F4 on reboot and for some reason it does say V202? and ive looked thourgh the files on there but the way there all written i cant tell whats what. it does give me the option of loading a disk on drive A/B to veiw files, although i'm not sure what the blu-ray drive is designated as, i do know that it won't read my flash drives in there. i'll burn a few bois updates and see what happens when i get home tonight. thanks

As long as you had the file on your C: partition you should be able to flash from there.

Things will look weird because they get truncated past 8 characters. So it's just the first 6 characters of the file or folder name and then a ~1. Program files becomes progra~1, etc... so you should be able to find it in your documents and settings (or Users on vista) folder if you had it on your desktop, for example.
