    Hey everyone.
I was wondering if anyone had any issues with the Asus G72GX-RBBX05
    P8700-2.53 cpu
    6GB ram
    500GB hd
    GTX260M
    w/ windows 7
I am getting the blue screen of death after the windows loading flag with the error
"unmountable_boot_volume." The recovery cd doesn't load. It just shows a black screen with the mouse pointer arrow. Any ideas? By the way, I can still run that asus express thing which is how i can still use the internet.
    Thanks

obviously when the power went out, the subroutines for your windows crashed with it. change your setup so that you can boot from a cd and then throw in your windows install disk. boot up from the windows disk and do a repair on the windows.

Re-seat your hard drive. If this doesn't help, then it's most likely a damaged file system and you'll need to run chkdsk to repair your hard drive volume. See if you boot into safe mode before running chkdsk.

You just made this up, didn't you.

As David said, UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, stop code 0x000000ED, generally implies file system damage or hard drive failure (or both... failing hard drive --> damaged file system)

I would suggest testing the hard drive before running a chkdsk, as a chkdsk will only cause farther damage and help nothing if the disk is failing. You can do this with tools offered by the drive's manufacturer. For example, Seagate's SeaTools and WD's WD Lifegaurd Diagnostics.

Assuming the drive is okay... For the chkdsk, put in your Windows 7 disc and boot from it. On the first screen, select "repair my computer" or something similar. Open "command prompt," type "chkdsk /r C:" without the quotes. Let it do it's thing. Hope you boot after.

I actually bought this g72gx last month so could it be a hardware issue?

New hardware doesn't mean it's not failing hardware. So yes, it could.

Turn on your laptop, set it so the disc drive boots first. Run the recovery CD. I actually had the SAME exact problem on my G72GX Dual Core CPU too. I ended up using the recovery disc. After the disc loaded and finished its job, it gave me the same error. I took it out of disc booting first, turned it on and off again and it worked. Try it, it might work for you too.
