Well, after over a two month wait for my laptop to be returned to me after the motherboard fried (thanks so much for your world renoun warrenty service...), I finally got my g1s back. They actually installed a new video card as well. An nvidia 9500m gs. Anywho, at the time I wanted to try my luck with ubuntu. I used it for a while but figured it wasn't for me (too lazy). I decided to crawl back to windows. Using the new driver disk along with my recovery disk I tried to reinstall vista home pro 32bit whatnot. What's this? It doesnt work? I tried all sorts of combinations with old and new cds but nothing would work. I said screw it. I had had enough. I tried using 64bit that I had downloaded. Lo and behold it worked! For about a month, without any problems, 64 bit vista pro ran perfectly. Then all of a sudden I started getting these bluescreens. I have no idea why I am getting them. I noticed that I usually get them when something to do with graphics is involved. This includes games, flash, shockwave ect. I have also gotten this problem very rarely with music. Its primarily just video involved things that cause the bluescreens. I have tried updating drivers including laptop2go and nvidia drivers. Neither worked. I tried updating flash, updating windows. Neither of those worked either. I really am at the end of my rope. I don't know what else to try. I thought maybe it could be a heat issue but I got a heat moniter and it seems that I am getting normal heat readings. These blue screenings show no pattern. They can happen right next to each other or separated by several days ( i dont shut down). I have tried virus scans in safe mode and regular mode and nothing has been found. I also tried spybot s&d and that didn't fix anything either. I really don't know what to do. My specific specs are:
intel core duo 7500
nvidia 9500m gs
2 gigs of ram
I really don't know whats up. I guess it could possibly be something to do with my copy not being legit but then why did it work perfectly for a month? I would prefer to use the copy of windows that my computer came with but since it doesnt work....

Sorry but we can't help with problems caused by illegitimate OS installs. I am therefore closing this thread.
The reason for which your original recovery DVD did not work was that your mainboard is now a G1Sn mainboard, and the recovery DVD verifies that you are indeed installing on the type of computer it came with (in this case G1S). You should have contacted ASUS to get recovery DVDs that match the new internals. Maybe you still can.
