    this question applies to all notebook manufacturers, but since ASUS is likely the best, i thought this forum might be the best place....
    (also forgive the naivete)....

    will 2 (or 3 or 4) different laptops that have the exact same specs (equal processor, RAM, GPU, etc) always perform the same and have the same benchmarks, or does the actual construction/design/manufacturing of the laptop also affect its performance?

    laptops with the same specs often perform very close to one another. Except battery life. but everything stays very close. the things that make laptops different is fit and finish. contruction materials. speaker quailty sound quality and screens. viewing angles resolutions that kinda thing.

    Exactly! Pcmark and benching utils genreally come up with an identical score give or take 1%.
