I reinstalled my N53 with a windows7 iso, and my built-in mic doesn't seem to work anymore; however I can't tell if i'm missing any drivers

If i am, where do I download them? The closest thing available on the Asus website is the "realtek audio driver" which I already have I think.

When I look at the same dialog that you posted on my G73 I only have 1 entry (with the Green check mark), If you right click- properties, do all the microphone properties look ok? (enabled, level where mine is 100, boost +20)
If all looks good; look at device manager- view- show hidden devices
If all is ok there I would disable 1 of the 2 entries in your posted image.

thanks, that actually was it. Microphone was at 50 and boost was at 0. At 0, the mcriphone doesn't record anything. Anyway I'm glad it was a simple solution, unlike with all the other problems on my comp...
