i am thinking to buy a C90s but i have a few questions. im not the best with computers so bear with me.
1. Does th c90 use other desktop parts other than a desktop processor? (e.g. desktop memory or note book memory?)
2. ive used a G1 before and one of the games(command and conquer Generals) was lagging, would it also lag on the C90?
3. does turbo gear come on a cd or something when you buy the barebone?
4. does it support hdd larger than 160gb, because gentechpc has 250gb
thanx in advance (i know, these are probably really dumb questions)
im not in a big rush to get a laptop so im open to suggestions![]()

1. The only desktop part is the processor and the RAM is standard notebook memory
2. C&C Generals is not lagging at all on my C90S (it can handle much newer games without lagging)
3. TurboGear comes on the Driver-CD included with the laptop. You can also download newer versions of TurboGear from the Asus website
4. It supports hdd's larger than 160Gb. A lot of people here in the forums are using 250Gb drives -
@chris: nice c90s sig.....can I swipe it? -
if you cant wait it out then wait for the c90p

Also "Lag" is such a generic term and often needs to be clarified.
If you are playing online it could be due to connection or server issues. Off-line it can be due to simply underpowered hardware for the settings used or often just poor operator errors ie running 10 applications in the background like anti virus etc etc. Of course these are just a few possibilities, but who knows how optimized the G1 you used was.
If you do go with a c90 make sure you have a well known reseller build it entirely so they can check stability issue (gentech gets my vote here). But still be prepared to learn a lot about your system. -
I 2nd Gentech as well. With how "hit or miss" the C90S can be it's very important to stick with a reseller who is willing to help you out.
With that said, the C90S is still a great machine, it just has it's issues like most other products. -
Yep....talk to Ken at Gentech....he'll make sure it's right for you.
-
Yup. I'd still wait for the C90P though, should have some more infos at CEbit in 2-3 weeks. RAM issues suposedly fixed, a new vid card (the C90S will support it) and the Penryns.
-
Yes, unless you have to have it right away, I'd just wait for the penryn version at this point.
-
There is no set release date for the Penry and even if we had one, who is to say it won't be another repeat of the C90S...April/May release date, but its delayed until September. I went a whole friggen summer with out a notebook at work and it sucked, I had returned my Toshiba P105-9337 a week before I started this boring $#!+ job. Hell I even started playing MMORPG now that I have this job its so A$$ boring. Point being, if your not in a hurry, go ahead and wait and hope, if you need it, get yourself something else now.
Can you tell I'm in a ripe mood today? -
thats a really bad design putting the fingerprint reader right between the touch pad buttons. you have no idea how many times the thing activated accidentaly. why did they repeat the design.
-
i was asking if it was like the "new series of c90's" it looks almost the same except the fan, touchpad and multimedia buttons...
are all of asus's new notebooks running on penryn? http://1toppc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=SFNT (top row) -

Mine doesn't do anything unless I directly swipe my finger. I even tried to trigger it with partial swipes and taps, it didn't do anything. -
yep, no problem here either.

I remember buggin Ken quite a bit about it.
Aah how time flies.

It was the damn ups and fedex trucks flying up and down my street every day that really ticked me off.

I think you even said you wanted to hijack a UPS truck and take one of the drivers hostage or something! LOL
