Hey, I've decided to get the M6BNe (M6Ne in Australia), but I really want the WSXGA+ screen that is not available in the U.S. Does anyone know, or can recommend a good dealer in Australia that sells the M6Ne and will ship it internationally? Also, what's with the M6S?...is it the same thing just with a different name, or is it something else entirely? I've checked out this thread at notebookforums (http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=42326) and searched both there and here, but haven't found much info on the subject. Thanks in advance...[8D]

I'm pretty sure the S stands for W"S"XGA. But I could be wrong.
As for stores, you could try computeralliance (http://www.computeralliance.com.au/help.aspx?qryHelp=ShippingQuestions), I got mine thru these guys, they are ok, and there prices are pretty good. You could also try i-tech. (http://www.i-tech.com.au/products/253_Asus_Notebook.asp)

    good luck

You could try the guys mentioned in this thread:

    http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=50412&highlight=yestech

I got mine from a local dealer in Sydney for a pretty good price and noticed while wandering past the other day that they had dropped the price even more - $2800 AUD for the 1.7 Dothan with DVD burner.

Don't forget that if they are shipping overseas they should take off the 10% GST.

    Cheers

The Asus M6S (or M6SR) is a different model. It has integrated graphics, so make sure you get exactly what you're after.

The "s" is different, what is important is the N, Ne, R or C etc that comes after the M6. This denote the type of hardware esp GPU that is present. The s seems to be not important.

Thanks Underpantman for those links (woah, that's one name I never imagined I would type...you need your own superhero theme song too [ :p] )...anyway, I think I've had a change of heart and so I'm not going to have a system shipped internationally, reasons are as follows:

    1) Asus distributes notebooks differently in the U.S. than in other countries. Here (U.S., Maryland to be specific) Asus uses "whitebooks" or configurable notebooks which you buy from 3rd party dealers, they assemble your notebook to whatever specifications you want and you get a "Built on Asus" machine (you can choose every component except the screen and motherboard pretty much). As I understand it, Asus in Australia is a "brand", and you have to buy preconfigured notebooks at a set price with no or very little ability to change the options. This raises the price for me because I would have to pay for extra features I don't need (i.e. 80 gigs instead of 60, DualDVD instead of a combo drive).

    2) From what I've heard Asus will be coming out with new models in the spring. I know it is a ways away and you can always get caught in the cycle of waiting till the next new thing comes out, but I think that is best for me in this case.

Ok, so to sum up, I believe I can get an Asus notebook shipped to me internationally, but I have to pay a premium to do so because I have to order a fully equiped notebook for around $2300-2400 U.S. as compared to the same notebook I can configure domestically, just with a WXGA screen instead of a WSXGA+ but otherwise all features identical, for about $1600-1700 U.S. While I like the WSXGA+ it is not worth it for an increase of $600 plus shipping...

Thanks again for all your help guys [8D]
