I downloaded the nv16371_Vista32 drivers from ASUS support site. They won't install. The installer says that I don't have Vista 32-bit... but I do. How can I fix this?

the gpu drivers? I got them working with no problem. Maybe your using the wrong installer? there is always your included drivers disk, or you can use aftermarket drivers like those on laptopvideo2go.com

Also for me the driver is the 151 series, so I dont know where you found a link for 163's.

Here is the link for the vista 32 drivers

How old are those drivers? The reason I am updating is that I am getting BSODs... and Vista is blaming the nvidia drivers. Is there a way to cook up your own drivers based of off the latest Nvidia drivers. Waiting for ASUS to update their drivers to the latest and greatest is lame.

Zoyx, that has been our complaint all along with the Gddr3 card. Ken at Gentech has contacted Asus to find out why the new drivers cause such a performance drop with this card. The Asus drivers "stock" were published back in May of this year, so they are ancient. I haven't had any game problems with what I'm running. I used to get a BSOD which Vista blamed on the stock drivers, but I don't get it anymore. One of the hotfixes here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/Browse.aspx?displaylang=en&categoryid=7 must have taken care of the problem, but I'm not sure which one.

Vicious (got it right, but did it wrong the first time again!) did some fairly extensive testing with drivers on the gddr3 card. I believe the name of thread is 'C90s - Back to Stock drivers again'. Check it out. Yes, waiting on Asus IS lame.

However like Zoid said below you new drivers are not going to work if you have the GDDR3 card, if you have the DDR2 card then feel free to update. (if your not sure, just look at the vram 512mb = DDR2 card)

I installed the 167.26 drivers using the .inf hack from laptopVideo2Go. No BSOD or artifacts... yet. Running 3dmark05... score went from 56xx to 6297 (standard mode). So I am pleased with that. Only problem is the black bars on the sides when I go away from 16x10 resolution. Didn't have that when I was using the stock drivers.

Update: 169.09 driver... score of 6426

Thats aspect scaling you can probably turn it off if you want in your control panel options. Look under the nvidia control panel and the option "flat panel scaling" However I dont know why you would turn it off, I personally will not use any drivers that do not allow black bars on the side when using a different aspect ratio. I HATE a stretched picture, which is what it does if you have that function off.

Is especially noticeable in the only 4:3 game I ever play these days O2Jam.

Zoyx, they will run....but try 3dmark06....I'm curious what you get...my 06 scores dropped from 3657 to 2218 by switching from stock to newer drivers. I take you run Vista and have the gddr3 card.

Yep, you have the gddr2 card. I get 3657 stock everything incl drivers. If I used your drivers, my score would drop to around 2200.
