    here are some good deals

    2x1gb Patriot DDR2 667 for 65$ id recomend this for most people. If you insist on 3gb+ tho..
    edit oopst forgot to put the link here :p oh well you dont want 2x1gb anyways.

    2gb single dimm OCZ for 90$

    http://shop3.outpost.com/{p9ZgBEtsEom3cB6ElWXabg**.node1}/product/5284707

    then get a 1gb one to put with it.

    Im supprise the deal i got is still up, i figured it would be sold out fast or the price would change:

    newegg has great deals, but they are not always the best. They are also known to have major price fluxes for no good reason.

    like my hdd is cheaper there than i got it for from a diffrent etailer. they didnt carry it at the time, but its only 10$ cheaper tho.

    you can stick to newegg for most of your things but always look around.

    I got nothing from newegg so far for my c90.

    cpu --> ebay
    ram --> frys
    hdd --> futurepcworld

    I may get my router or ap from there and my mouse and stuff. I havnt picked those things out yet so I have not gone price hunting.

    ohhhhhh I see i see, very nice, and you would recommend that ram from frys? The ocz??

    I'm still not even sure if i'm getting this laptop, if the reviews are good, if people on the forums like it, then i will order one immediately. I'm just waiting ot make sure it's actually a good machine before ordering.

    I wasn't saying that it wouldn't run in dual channel, I was saying that the out of step packets from the RAM is hanging up in the FSB (waiting for the last packet of info to be sent out, so that it can go in). This slows things down due to the FSB having to compensate the RAM being out of sync (because info can't just...stop, except in the HDD) by running a 5/4 compensator (I don't know exactly what it is doing on an electronic level, but I know that the upshot is that it eats FSB speed and bottlenecks the information coming from the RAM), this detriment, I would estimate, is about equal to the benefit of dual-channel RAM (or apparently greater, since some tests show it is slower than slower clocked RAM). I didn't mean to imply that you couldn't run dual-channel without properly clocked FSB and RAM.

    yeah, sounds about right alex. I can only hope it has a good bios that lets me manually set my fsb divider and change my ram timings and things like im used to in a desktop.

    I have a feeling that when you turn on turbo mode that a divider goes into play and it doesnt overclock the ram. They would have to do this to be safe because if sombody has cheap ram it wont overclock and the system will crash in a very bad way :p

    So I can only hope they allow an advanced level of tweaking where you can force a 1:1 with the cpu or force a fixed divder when overclocking.

    What speed ram would i need to get for it to be 1:1 when the fsb is overclocked?

    totally depends on how much the fsb is overclocked :p and in this case that depends on what cpu you get... plus like i said I have a very strong feeling that there is a automatic divider put into place when you overclock as to prevent the ram from becoming unstable.

    ohhh you said speed RAM? 533 for stock FSB, and 667 if you OC the FSB to 1334, you could also use 1066 speed RAM, but I highly doubt it would be able to work, or be cheap enough to try. !!!!!!

    yeah, your worrying about small things too much.

    the performance hit is so small that you wont notice it in a game or program only benchmarks. If your worried about getting top bench scores your looking on the wrong forum all together... You should be looking at desktops.

    OMG !!! So when the E6700 is OC the 667 RAM will not need to use that divider thing???

    edit: well no i don't care about benchmarks lol, What i'm thinking about is that 1 fps i'm going to get from having the proper whatever it is i need is going to help me ALOT, over a long period of time.

    I mean it might not do much, and it might not do it often, but over the next year and ahalf 2 years, that extra 1 fps, that extra 1 second i shaved off of whatever is going to add up bigtime!

    btw alex what ram are you getting?

    Like I said it probably will be on a divider but im not sure, it depends on how they have the bios and software setup. if it knows you have 667 ram and it can handle the 1:1 fsb it should have no divider.

    Just get the 667 ram and be happy :p unless the 800 is only abit more then go ahead and get that instead.

    the higer the better it gives you more options, its just not worth the price difference to me.

    667 should be optimal it can run 1:1 with no OC at 533mhz if its better performance that way, or it can run 667 with a divider.

    Then it shoudl run 1:1 if alex numbers are right when in OC mode.

    there is nowhwere you would need 800mhz for.

    It will use a divider, just by the way it is set up, but still like Vicious said, get 667 and be happy. it probably won't even add up to 1 FPS. If we were talking about OC'ing and being hardcore and all that, it would matter, as you increase all of the clocks and multipliers the step becomes more pronounced (as you either have to waste some overclocking overhead to compensate, or leave it off step and possibly decrease your performance). But again, that is only an issue in desktops, and even then only an issue for really serious overclockers. Plenty of gaming rigs have used 667 speed RAM and Conroes with a 1066 FSB in the past and performed very well, this system should be no different.

    EDIT: forgot to quote you X

    focus on a good hdd, thats the slowest part of the system and worth your money the most. Then must make sure you have 2gb of ram or more, and a e6600 or higher.

    you should be set from there.

    hopefully some reviews will be out today @_@; I'm dying here

    instead of a 250gb drive should i get the seagate 160 that's like way faster????????

    AGHHHHHHH this is torture! but what do you think, how much of a performance hit am i going to take for getting the 250 gig 5400 rpm instead of that insane seagate 7200 O.O;

    They are pretty much the same, I already benchmarked my 250gb 5400rpm drive and its right at the toes of the 160gb 7200rpm ones.

    the 200gb 7200rpm beats mine tho... But to me the small increase in performance isnt worth a loss of 50gb of space and an extra 60$ more.

    I need the space for music, games, movies, ect. I eat it up fast.

    check out the thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=135185

    you can find the 160gb one tested on tomshardware.

    not much, the 250 GB drive will have ridiculous platter density, but it also depends on the make and model. the 7200.2 is without a doubt top dog in the HDD world (with Dell have exclusive rights to the 200GB model for a few months, a**holes), but it isn't ahead by a whole lot. Basically, if you need (or really want) the size, the sacrifice in speed will be more than acceptable by any standards (but I have 60GB right now that I easily keep in check, 100 more should be way more than enough so I want the speeeeeed :D)

    Get the Western Digital looks like the samsung may have issues, plus WD is my fav brand never had issues with them.

    The egg has it for 190$!

    I paid like 196 + more expensive shiping for mine so its a good deal.

    Lol wut? Have you even checked the weight of the C90? It's pretty much the same as the G1S.

    EDIT: You all know this, just reading through the thread I thought it was funny that someone would just assume that the 15.4" C90 would weigh a ton.
