    can ASUS G51Jx boot from esata?

    can this be done? and, how about boot from expresscard ssd?

    It will work, but I wouldn't advise booting Windows via eSATA, it's glitchy. I had a lot of filesystem corruption when I tried to do this with Windows XP.

    Maybe things have changed with Windows Vista/7, but in any case I would advise thorough testing beforehand.

    Linux on the other hand worked fine as far as I remember.

    Not sure about expresscard.

    thanks E.B.E.! at least it's an option that can work. Bet XP is just to old for good esata support. i'll check it out when i get my machine.

    wonder if anyone has tried expresscard ssd?

    I wanted the -A1 to get 2 drive bays. But I saved $350 going -X2.

    The A1 doesn't have two drive bays, that's the G51J. The JX puts in two extra RAM slots.

    I'd be surprised if it can't boot the the ExpressCard, though I guess it really depends on how the device presents itself to the machine.
