ive been looking at the g1s and like it very much, but my problem is im not too impressed with 2.2 ghz and would like a 2.5 or 2.6 penryn cpu... is it possible to put one of those in this laptop thanxx

Depending on your use for it, the 2.2 is sufficient for most uses.
I haven't heard of anyone upgrading the CPU, but it should be upgradeable to anything with the same socket, which would include the new Penryns. This would probably void the warranty however. -
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
Agreed - what specifically are you finding about the 2.2 chip that isn't meeting your needs? If it is something that isn't terribly cpu dependent, you won't get a bump with a Penryn cpu.
And yes, swapping a cpu WILL INSTANTLY void your Asus warranty; you have to pull the warranty stickers off the heatsink to get at the screws so there's no way to be subtle about it. BIOS update should solve the Penryn recognition issue. -
Assuming ASUS added Penryn support to the latest BIOSes.
OP: I suggest seriously reconsidering whether you really need more CPU power. Most users never actually use the newest CPUs to their full potential.
can g1s cpu be upgraded
