Hi
Im just about to buy my first laptop and im pretty much decided on the L5000GX for the P$ 3,2 processor and 128mb radeon. The thing is, a while back it was just the matter of centrino vs P4 or battery life vs cpu power. Now comes the dothan thing.
Baring in mind that im not a laptop processor specialist, can someone explain me if the P4 is still worth it for the power or will i do better with a dothan processor?
Thanks

That's not 100% true. The Dothan CPU's are better in certain areas like Business applications, but is slower when it comes to content creation (eg. video/audio encoding). With the capabilities the Pentium M (Dothan) CPU's can provide, they definitely give P4 CPU's a run for their money.
Here's a link to a speed comparison between P4, AMD64, Pentium M (Banias & Dothan) & Celeron M CPU's.

So, for the performance that Dothan CPU's offer, especially with all their benefits (Runs cooler, better battery life, smaller/lighter units), it's definitely a good choice to go for.
