I bought a new intel 320 ssd to upgrade my old ul80vt, when i try to load the windows 7 recovery CD that is the message I get.

I have tried changing the ide to compatible.

Very worried I have blown my money on an upgrade that wont work :-(

failed again. its odd, tried the recovery cds i burned originally to restore hidden partition, still get the big red ERROR message, but not the same as when i use cds or the downloaded iso, it refers to a missing dat when i try to install from the hidden partition which successfully installed to the ssd.

ive given up though, going to sell the ssd used and throw the stupid asus in the bin. use to be an asus fan boi. fast becoming anti.

I managed to load an ISO downloaded version of windows 7, the correct and same version as comes with the notebook, but it wouldnt let me register or activate, so I gave up and reinstalled the old HDD.

Is there any way I could try installing the ASUS rebuild disk to the SSD whilst its in an external USB craddle?
