What exactly is an "unnatended" version of XP?

To install XP on your G51, you'll either need to slipstream XP with the SATA driver (in other words, create your own XP installation disk with the SATA driver integrated in it; you can do this with the free software programs nLite) or set your SATA setting to compatible mode in your BIOS.

Unattended WinXP install disks are done using nLite, it just install the entire Windows without any input by the User, all the CD-Keys and Lan Configs are done at "Background" for example...

but, if you have done a unattended CD, so maybe you already included the Chipset drivers? If not, do it xD

You do know that you need either 2 harddrives or 2 different partitions to dual boot right?

yes finally i did it !!!!!

the problem was when you install Windows Xp in a computer whit WIn vista ( 2 diferentes partitions of course)

In The bootloader List only can see Windows xp, so what i did, i launch a windows vista 64 bit recovery disk, to have vista back, then whit the program easybcd i added windows xp to the bootloader

(sorry for my bad english i am From Chile ) =P

You are correct sir. When you install windows XP on a system with vista pre-installed, The XP bootloader (which is older and lacks support for vista) is installed. This removes the ability to boot vista till the vista bootloader is re-installed. Thank goodness for "bootrec /rebuldbcd" (<- This is how you can get vista to boot, Then proceed to add XP to the boot options list if you dont wanna use a program like easybcd).

If you find the drivers, it would be awesome if you could make a pack with them to download, or even better, a post with instructions and downloads. Would be very usefull for the comunity, and save lots of time.

Thanks in advance, and good luck.

Hmm, not trying to be annoying or anything, but why bother with an OS that's eight years old. Instead of XP, why don't you install Windows 7?

G51VX XP drivers and installation guide

[Step 1] For your G51VX notebook computer with Intel chipset, you need to use the program nLite to integrate the SATA driver, Service Pack 3 components, and Internet Explorer 7 into the XP installation CD, and make a new XP sp3 CD. This can also meet the requirement that it is necessary to use XP sp2 CD or newer version for the XP installation on ASUS notebook computer.

Here is the way to do it.

Get the Service Pack 3 components, WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe from here, and put the file under C:\

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...a8-5e76-401f-be08-1e1555d4f3d4&DisplayLang=en

Download the Internet Explorer 7, IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe from here, and put it under C:\

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...be-3385-447c-8a30-081805b2f90b&DisplayLang=en

And download the SATA driver 32-bit Floppy Configuration Utility for Intel® Matrix Storage Manager, f6flpy3289.zip from the following site. Unzip it in a new folder and name it SATA driver. Put this folder under C:\

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/con...D=&DwnldId=17883&strOSs=&OSFullName=&lang=eng

Download and install the program nLite.

    http://www.nliteos.com/download.html

Put your original XP CD into the DVD drive. Run the program nLite and click Next. In the page of “Locating the Windows installation”, click Browse >> My Computer >> DVD drive, a window pops up.

“Select where to save the CD installation files for modification”.
Choose or create an empty folder.

Click OK, a window pops up. Click C: >> Make a new folder >> type New XPCD >> OK

The nLite starts to copy all the files of the original XP CD into the folder C:\New XPCD.

Click Next. In the page of “Presets”, click Next. In the page of Task Selection, select Integrate [Service Pack], [Hot fixes, Add-ons, and Update Packs], [Drivers], and [Create Bootable ISO], click Next.

In the page of [Service Pack], click Select >> WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe >> Open. The nLite starts to integrate the service pack 3 components into the folder of New XPCD. Click Next.

In the page of [Hot fixes, Add-ons, and Update Packs], click Insert >> C: >> IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe >> Next.

In the page of [Drivers], click Insert >> Single Driver, a window pops up, select C:\SATA driver, 2 selections show up, select iaAHCI, click Open, then pops up another window, in which there are more than 10 selections, select Intel® ICH8M-E/M and ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller, click OK >> Next, a window pops up with a question “Do you want to start the process?”, click Yes. Take out the original XP CD and put a blank CD into the DVD drive.

Click Next. In the page of Bootable ISO, select Direct Burn for Mode, type New XPCD for Label, select minimum 4 x (705KB/s) for Burn Speed, then click Burn. The nLite starts burning the New XPCD. After completion, you have a new XP installation CD now. You can use it to install XP smoothly.

[Step 2] Download XP drivers and utilities. Unzip them in their own respective folders, and copy all these folders into a USB Flash drive.

    21. ITE remote controller application

    http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=F8Vr

[Step 3] Insert the new XP sp3 CD into the DVD drive. Restart your computer. Press Esc key immediately when the ASUS logo appears. Select “Boot from the DVD drive”. The XP installation procedure is started now. Designate to install XP on the other HDD (F :). Follow the instructions and you will be able to install XP smoothly.

[Step 4] Open the USB Flash Drive. Install all the XP drivers and utilities in the number sequence. Make sure that you have installed all of them.

[Step 5] Go to Control Panel >> System >> Hardware >> Device Manager. Check whether there is any exclamation mark (!) or question mark (?). If the answer is no, congratulations, you have done a good job.

    Good luck!!

Just wanted to say thanks so much for finding and posting XP drivers, I added a new HDD and installed XP on it then used Vistaboot to make multi boot Vsita/XP menu , all drivers you posted are correct and worked.
the gain on XP was OpenAL, I have XFI 5.1 USB SB. with Vista the SB relies on the CPU to process Games/Movies sound. plus games overall runs smoother on XP.

I am trying to find easylogon application for XP. sure I can live without it.. :)

    Thanks again for your help.

    lolwat?!
Xp is an 9 year old OS that has been so well memorized by hackers and virus programmers,it would be insanely easy to get a virus,it has no default protections from viruses, unlike 7.

This laptop is blazing fast on XP. The drivers you provided gave full functionality to the laptop, no skimping anywhere. Thank you!

Lol, seriously though, people who have been living under a rock who still want to use XP and haven't bother to try Windows 7 [RC] are totally losing out. Windows 7 is so fast and reliable, it makes Vista look like a joke - Vista should have never came out, Windows 7 is the best OS I've used since XP. Windows 7 is the future people, don't be so stubborn in the fact that you've used XP for so long that there is no reason to upgrade (aka Vista scared you off and you don't want to chance Windows 7). If we had the same mentality as some of you users who clench with bare knuckles unto XP, we all would be still STUCK on Windows 3.1. Good thing the majority like to try new things and Windows 7 was a welcome surprise and is the only OS [since XP] that has been widely accepted so well. As the saying goes, leave the past behind you (XP) and look forward towards the future (Windows 7)!
