I was on estore.asus.com and i was looking through laptop covers and i was wondering if i could replace the asus g50vt-x5 yellow lightning cover with something like this:

    http://estore.asus.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=4079

i know the g50 is a 15.6" while the c90s is 15.4" but there's only 2 options for g50 laptops which is the x1 version that's the blue lines lit up one which is not any better and the solid black one which i like but costs 70$.

You need to buy a G50 series cover. Any one will work, price is ridiculous I know, I am trying to get one also.

Which model is this cover originally from? I'm worried about whether or not it's going to fit my G50Vt-X5 since Google seems to think that the G50V-series laptops are 15.4" (while Vt's are 15.6") - can anyone confirm whether G50V's are 15.4" or 15.6"?

It's expensive, but I'm tempted, since I'm ordering a second hard drive bracket from there anyway and I'm sure I won't like the lightning crap on the front when my G50Vt-X5 gets here. :nah:

Also, on a side note, does anyone happen to know who ASUS eStore ship with? I'm Canadian and I don't ever want to deal with UPS's brokerage fees again

Edit: Bummer, it's out of stock. =/ Hopefully that changes soon :p

I just ordered a solid gloss black laptop skin off ebay for 10 bucks that im going to cut to fit as perfectly as I can. It's going to cover all the current gloss black with the lightnigh, but hopefully fit around the lights and logo. See my hack drawing to depict my goal.

Also, when I grow tired of this patchwerk fix, I'm going to completely remove the cover and paint it solid black. Lol I'm gonna go all out, sanding, primer, base coat and clear coat! I'll mask all the things I want to leave behind. As long as I can get the mats for under 40 bucks I think I'll go for it. I might have to get cheaper paint tho, haha.

I think you should skip covering the areas you highlighted with the high gloss black cover and just go for that fluorescent green outlined look to accent the lightning as in your picture. That'd be freaking sweet!

Yeah man just do it yourself! I did that with my 1967 mustang and it actually turned out great! A laptop would easily be a million times easier though for sure so I don't see any way you can go wrong unless you're cursed.

Order with USPS instead, you'll most likely avoid high fees.

LOL, you know what, that green does look pretty awesome.

I dont HATE the lightning design. However, I would like to bring this baby to school with me everyday and to be honest, a laptop that looks like that is socially unacceptable. (LOL)

It would just attract too much attention. Mind you I'm in the engineering building most of the time, so the guys would probably just think its SWEEET. Hahahaa

Nice, what color and engine was your Mustang? I used to have a 67 too(best year, easily) and I had mine painted with one of the factory dark blues(called Nightmist Blue)...

Definitely one of the few things I regret selling, but it wasn't feasable for me to keep it at the time... :(
