i had my eye on the A8JM but its out of stock everywhere, and while isnt that expensive is alot of machine for what i need

this led me to look at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834220027
which unless im missing something, is the exact machine minus 20gigs and the video card

is there something else im missing?
    any complaints on this model?

yeap, but the lack of the video card is the biggest difference. Battery life and gaming performance should change significantly

is there any other asus laptops around that price range of the A8F that i should look at?
only mandatory criteria is 14inch wide screen and 1gig of ram

Z62F. you can configure it with 1 gig of ram.. is 14" wide.. and is out now!
there's also the older Z63a, which is much better looking, but uses the older Sonoma

alright now that ive found the MXA8JM for 1600, im thinking about buying that again :(
Has there been any tests on battery life with the notebook using the 7600gpu versus the integrated for office use?
is there a way to underclock the 7600 for ultimate battery life with software?

another 400 bucks for lower battery life, i dunno

from what Canadasys reported..A8jm gets around 3 hours with conservative use. Definitely will not get 4 hours. the Z62J, which is 14" using integrated, can achieve 4 hours.
