I am considering one as well, especially cuz the new Ensemble models look appealing as hell. But I am very weary of the quality of build of Asus laptops as most have reported so far.

The biggest thing preventing me from purchasing it as of right now is the 9500m GS DDR2 video card. Does anyone have a legit date on a 9600m GT DDR3 and its performance comparisons to an 8600m GT?

Also, I don't like the 5400 RPM drive...who uses 5400 anymore?? As of right now, there's no option to upgrade to a 7200 RPM.

Unless you guys need it right now, the new lineup of nvidia cards should make their appearance this summer. There will be a 9600 gs and gt but which will appear in the Asus lineup is up in the air.

a 5400RPM drive does not really slow the computer down at all that much. FOr example, I think sony still has 4700RPM on some of their laptops. 5400 to 7200 is not going to make a big difference. ONly 1-2 second difference for starting up the computer thats all. Go for the G1S, its an awesome computre for the price. IF you live in Toronto, you could go for www.lucompters.com. In BC you could go to www.NCIX.com. FInally, if u like to live life on the edge, you could get one from the US, have then mark the value of the laptop as 800 and then save some money at the border for taxes (word of caution, if they lose the package then, u only get 800$ refunded). Hope that helps
