    1) can it run linux well? (ubuntu specifically)
    2) does it actually get 4 hours of battery life? or is it more like 2.5 like i have been hearing
    3) any of your thoughts on it are appreciated.

Gautam has recently purchased one, and he runs Ubuntu - I believe he bought the F3 because it can :)

The 8600GS on the F3 is still power consuming, you simply cannot expect 4+ hours of battery life on a notebook with above average graphics.

didnt think it would have 4 hours, but is it actually going to be as low as 2.5? because thats not that long...

and, just wondering but why would they advertise it to have 4 hours when it doesnt even get close?

Well, it was listed as 4 on the NE site, nowhere on the ASUS site does it claim that.

On mine, as I'm typing this in power save mode it says I'll get around 2 hours and 22 minutes.

I think what they mean by 4 hours is if you have it on the lowest settings doing absolutley nothing and sitting idle for four hours. That is the maximum battery output on a fully charged battery with the right technique.

Review is done friends, we just wait for it to be posted now... :)

A sneak peek at the battery life on the A1 and it's standard 6 cell in Vista - Battery life is abysmal. Perhaps, this is the only weakness to the F3sv.
