    hey guys,

i currently have an asus z35f with a core duo 1.8, 1.5gb of ram, and 80gig 7200 rpm HD. I am looking to increase the performance of my laptop because it is starting to feel sluggish when I run apps like Lightroom and Photoshop CS3. Would I gain anything by increasing my ram from 1.5 to 2.5? Or would it be best to upgrade the CPU?

    Tuan

would be a good idea to replace BOTH ram to 2x1gb of the same brand/model/type. you'll get a nice boost that way.

Are you Doing routine weekly HD maintenance to keep file systems in proper shape? Which OS are you running now?
Have you installed latest drivers from Asus. ftp.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Z35F. Be aware ftp downloads from Asus are v e r y S L O W.
Tuan, with current memory prices, I would put 2 x 2GB in it! Asus Tech does /will not test newer memory sizes on older computers, may only show capable of x.x when 4.0 will work!
Not sure irt CPU $, just make sure 2 get CORRECT pin configuration!

I assume.... you are using Vista 32bit.....

more memory will deff help, BUT HOW MUCH ram does your mobo support?1.5, 2 or 4gb?

Also, just remember that a 32bit OS can only utilize ~3.4gb ram, while 64bit can utilize all 4gb.

    Thanks for replies everyone.

Its unfortunate but the z35f has 512mb of ram preinstalled, so I can only buy a 2gig ram stick to replace the 1gig I currently have. I do believe I can install a 2gig stick to have 2.5 as I have seen other posts of z35f owners doing the same.

I am actually still using Win XP, but I do have a copy of Vista 64 bit that I am not using. I am too lazy to install it :).
