It seems like I can get both machines for the same price. Other than V6V's bigger screen...what are the differences between the 2 models?

The v6v is a regular ratio screen as opposed to widescreen on the w3v. The v6v is also a matte type screen as opposed to glossy on the w3v however the v6va also has a glossy screen. The v6v also lacks the brushed aluminum lid that the w3v has but has brushed aluminum palm rests that the w3v lacks. The main difference between the v6v and the w3v is the dimensions.

Well actually, you can get the V6v cheaper now because the new w3v package has a larger hard drive and more ram and the V6v is being phased out for the new V6va..... you can get a deal on the V6v (which is still an awesome unit).. We have the few we have left on the site for $100 off plus obviously members can use their discounts on top of that.

... depends on what you're looking for I guess.

That's a totally personal opinion... each has it's own character but the v6 is probably going to get more attetion because the overall svelte design is coupled with an extremely thin chassis for a 15" .... makes it look like a super model.

ya i know its a matter of opinion...

P.S. wouldnt the brushed aluminum covering on the V6V palmrest area prevent it from cosmetic wear more? or not?

Im looking at the specs of the v6va and i dont see where it says if its a widescreen? It LOOKS like a widescreen, but it would be wierd if ASUS were to make a non-wide screen...... I mean Widescreen is like standard now a days... And i like the v6va , but i wouldnt buy it if it was normal boring screen..

Oh and btw all the screens (most of them) by asus are XGA... if i wanted to upgrade to a WSXGA+ (since XGA is teh suxor) could i do so? Safely?

Yes, it's a "normal boring screen". Screen ratios are another personal preference. Some people like the normal ratio, some like the widescreen. If you like the V6va, but want a widescreen, you can check out the Z70Va. Although, it doesnt come with a 2 year global warranty, you'll be able to customize it the way you want it.

As for swaping screens on a V6VA, you cant and I wouldn't recommend you trying it on your own.

I love my normal boring screen. I don't see any need for a widescreen, at least for me. The V6Va has the best screen I've seen anywhere.
