    Where are you getting this info? There are two models with the ATi X1600; the S96j and the Z96j.

    Quite possible the website you're looking at has certain "pre-set" configurations and just labels then as such to easily distinguish them apart when customizing. For instance, when you begin to customize at powernotebooks.com, you can start off on three different customized notebooks and work from there. I think this may be it, and if so, there's really no difference.

    I was searching around. In asus website the download portion has z96jp and z96js. Also when I did a search in google one of the website had a spec for z96jp which had the the video card as M56 but when i search on ati website I did not see this. In addition, the barebone for z96js is $695 and the z96j is $732. I have not seen z96jp. I have been searching for the past 4 hours. I know it is crazy.

    By the way is the z96j made of carbon fiber

    Actually, check your other thread about the naming scheme. Looks like there's something in there about the last letter.

    The last letter means nothing at the moment becuase like the poster above said there are only two types
    s96j= cheaper, wxga, no bt, no bag
    z96j= more expensive , wsxga+, bt, bag

    The Z96J is plastic, not carbon fiber. But it's strong plastic. :)

    The M56 is ATI's code name for the mobility X1600.

    Z96Js is Asus' full name for the S96/Z96J barebones. Both models are labeled with it. There are two different models available, the S96J, and the Z96J. The differences are what Eddie mentioned above.
