one is xp pro with 512mb of ram. the other is xp home with 1gb of ram. i'd personally get the xp pro notebook and get another gig of ram for 100 bucks. But, if you are going to use it for basic computing tasks, xp home might be just fine. Here's a link to describe some differences between the two

I have a W5a that I love, aside from it being a little short on memory. Be sure to get at least 1gb!

One is a really old model, a Core Duo. These had One Year warranty.

The other is a new Core 2 Duo. Asus upped the warranty to 2 years + Zero Bright Dot on all the new Ensembles when they switched to Core 2 Duo CPUs.

Since the warranty is tied to the system, the old package comes with the old warranty.

If it's for school, I would recommend going with new model with the longer warranty, newer CPU, and more RAM. You really need 1GB with XP these days.

If you *had* to have any of the XP Pro features, you would already know, so don't worry about it. :)
