For my W3v, not sure if its the same for all Asus's computrers, You need to install the ATK0100 Driver (ACPI). Along with the Synaptic's Driver. Then there should be a hot key button on the computer, (Asus W3v, is on the right side, middle of keyboard).

I think LazZzy has a W5, I dont think they have a dedicated "On/Off" button like you and me. But yea, you should try reinstalling ATK0100 Driver and the synaptic driver. Sometimes if install something like a Windows Update, it may have downloaded a different or conflicting driver.

Your W5 didin't come with a ATK0100 driver. I had the same promblem with my W3 until I installed the ATK0100?
There has to be a way to disbale to the touchpad, some how. Typing with the touchpad on is a hassle sometimes. -
That's the problem, just try to reinstall it and see if that works. It won't hurt to to have that as your driver. See if it clears the problem, if it doesn't just re-uninstall it.
disable the touchpad
