Hello folks![]()
As this is my first post, I hope I don't brak all the rules at once..![]()
Im one of those happy A2D owners... just for the statistics: I also got the common never ending-fan-problem, and I constantly experience the problem with the onboard sound (short, cracking noise and gone is the sound...app needs to be restartet)
However this is not my primary issue. My new problem is HEAT... encountered it first after installing a new clean WinXP some two weeks ago, as my a2d suddenly shut down during playing some 3D game. Never had this happen before, so I was quite surprised. Needed the two weeks now though to figure out it was actually a heat problem, my first thought was WinXP having some trouble (just installed asus probe some 2 days ago... CPU temp rocketing to 97° C....). I have no idea why it suddenly turns out to be a problem..but well...
So I decided maybe the best was to just dissassemble the whole thing and clean it (it seems Bluemax got some impressive results with this course of action). Question now is:
Is there any manual on how to complete disassemble an A2D ?
not just the memory, cpu, etc... but the real whole **** thing? couldn't find anything on the net, and Bluemax only stated that he did it. I got quite some experience in building desktops, but a notebook seems a bit more complex, and I fear to break off some little plastic stuff or whatever... (yeah already tried it but backed off for now in hope for some assistance)
and yes, on that warranty seal on the proc ... nosy me broke it "accidentally" some 6 month ago anyways, so I guess my warranty is long but gone...(anyways, any idea what they charge here in Europe without the warranty if I send it in?)
thank you for any help![]()

wow~confused your cpu temp is extremly hot!! Normally, regular temp only up to between 58~73. If you would like to disassemble, the best thing have to focus on the cooling fan and the connection of cpu and heat sink. Of course, when the cpu is overheat, the windows will be shut down and freeize automatically. You can try to apply to some thermal compound such as Arctic Silver 5, it would be a little bit help.
You don't need to disassemble the whole laptop for fixing the problem if you need to fix the audio problem, it doesn't solve the it after all, but you can concentrate on the software and Windows first, then think of the hardware.
We believe that everything can be fixed as long as your A2D is still under warranty. Please check the Asus service center in Europe, they will be nice to take care of machine.
