Was going to buy an Asus EEE, 4G model, from J&R but they have gone out of their way to say that this is not XP compatible...

Is this just an error on their part or are there really certain EEE models where you can't install XP?

    Thanks.

I just bought a 4G so I've read a lot about the EEE. I haven't installed XP on mine but I know some people have XP on their 4G.

Asus gives you a disk that has all the XP drivers you'll need to get it to work on the EEE.

The only issue is hard drive space (you can use nlite to get it to fit) and amount of memory (which can be easily upgraded on the 4G and 4G Surf Black).

I think J&R is just playing it safe since some might try to install full version of XP, find that 4 GB isn't enough space, and try to sue J&R for not telling them that they couldn't install XP normally. Unfortunately there's people out there that think they can sue over anything and everything.

It works. XP is tight on a 2GB using nlite, but runs perfectly well on a 4GB.

Installing an N-lited version without a external CD Drive is a whole different matter though.. took a day to figure out the right way to do it...
