As per industry standards, ALOT of screens are now glossy. Most of them are, but it doesn't mean its high end.

i hope im being clear to which type of screen im talking, i have a really old vaiso and the screen on that is the soft material that old projector screens are made of, not the clear plastic plate with the gloss

3D.
or Touch Screen
Now that'll be cool...
Wait.....I forgot about tablets -
It's really too bad they don't provide the option for matte screens. Many companies at least offer the option on some models. This and the lack of hi resolution screens are the two things causing me to hesitate on buying an Asus, even though they're great in so many other ways!

You have to be specific about which models, but if you see "Color Shine" in the description, it is the smooth glossy screen. as opposed to the rough matte screen.

I have to agree. I like both screens. matte is nice to look at now and then and some are very good like apples. thinkpads will never get rid of their matte screens though thats one company that will stay the same.

I never preferred matte screens over glossy before I owned my Z70va, cause most of the matte screens I've used were just decent. But the Z70va matte screen is amazing. It's the best one I've seen so far. So now the tables have turned and I'm wondering if I could get used to glossy again, once i BUY THE W3J.
do all higher end asus laps come with those shiny glossy screens ?>
