    i am looking to upgrade to 4gb but i dont know if i need 2 buy 1 or 2 2gb cards. thanks

    Well, if the G1S has 1 2G stick you need to buy another. If it has two 1GB sticks you need to buy 2. :)

    Take care though not all new notebook mainboards are able to address 4GB of RAM (unsure about the G1S), and also there are sometimes issues reported when going from 3 to 4GB, like Vista actually decreasing the performance rather than increasing it.

    The G1s comes with 2x1gb ram. Also it does support 4gb of ram, just that you need to have a 64bit OS to utilize all the ram.

    Personally i would go with 3 GB then you won't need to get 64 bit OS and you'll be off from problems.
    So you can just get one 2 GB stick and upgrade.

    but then you lose the advantage of dualchannel-RAM ;)

    As I recall, knowledgeable people here have noted in multiple threads that the benefits of dual channel in notebooks do not approach those seen on desktop MBoards, and end up with something less than 1-2% benefit.
