I have an Asus g50vt a1 laptop. The stickker on the front says it has a 9800 gs gpu but everything in the computer and other temperature measureing computers say it is a 9800 gt. I just want to make sure asus made a mistake and that the sticker should read 9800 gt.
(gt is better than gs, right?)

Your Asus has the 9800M GS.
-
Yeah you have the GS, mine also says the GT, but I'm pretty sure that was from the DOX drivers I installed before.
-
Read the number of shaders--it's a GS. The GS and GTS have 64 shaders while the GT has 96 I think (off the top of my head).
-
notice on this temperature software under gpu it says 9800 gt

it says 9800mgt because the nvidia/dox driver's inf defined the hardware ID as a 9800mgt.
you should be able to open regedit, then search and replace every instance of 9800gs to gt.
i dont know of any common ways to check, but cinema4d has opengl accel and notes the number of shaders. rivatuner's diagnostic report also has it in "graphics core: g9x (##sp)". -

Its a G50VT its a GS stock 100% guaranteed.
It said GS out of the box, after drivers/bios flash up until yesterday myne said GT and today after a clean wipe (with gts clocked bios) it says GS again. Told ya'll it was the driver. Anyways it will vary in what it says its all software related has nothing todo with the actual hardware.
does my asus have a gs or a gt?
