    Hi,

I just got an A8Jr today, and I really don't want vista on it.

Does anyone know a detailed procedure on how to downgrade Vista to XP, essentially reformatting and just reinstalling XP onto it?

Also, I was wondering if it would be possible to just re-install the drivers from the drivers cd, or do I have to go download all the XP drivers?

    Thanks for your help.

You should be able to run xp fine with an xp cd-rom & format, unless Asus made the BIOS incompatible or something (which I doubt). I don't recommend using the vista drivers in XP. If XP drivers aren't on the a8jr download page, you can use the drivers for a8js/a8jp since they use 95% the same parts.

I think you gotta download all the drivers again in asus website, unless you can try check the cds do have drivers for xp.

you can also check what device still need to be installed, go to
    control panel-system-Hardware-device manager.

whatever asus offer to download for your notebook should check in asus website as they should offer all the drivers needed

No driver for the DVD, though it came with Nero. You just really need everything for V1 under XP from ASUS's download site http://support.asus.com.

I don't think the OEM license allows for downgrades unless you're using a completely different license or get a copy.

oh, I got an old copy of XP that I no longer use.

I guess the word 'downgrade' throws my intentions off.

1 change bios to boot from cd

    2 insert xp disc

3 follow instructions and reformat hard drive

    4 install drivers

    ;)

Correct. Also you don't need everything from the support site, just everything under drivers (i.e. everything in the latest version for WinXP, except betas if any). The utilities like power 4 gear asus splendid etc are optional (and I personally use none of them).
