download g-parted and partition your hard drive then boot up your windows 7 disc then click install. Make sure you install on the empty partition and then ur done

you will have a choice to boot up now

You dont even have to download anything vista has a partition manager built in.

Just go to the windows start button --> right click on computer --> select manage --> click on disk management --> select your drive with a right click --> shrink volume

Take the new unpartitioned space and right click it, make a new volume.

Install Win 7 on the new volume and it will do the rest for you.

    Yep, exactly. ;)

After installing, when you start up your computer, you'll get a menu of the two Operating Systems, and you choose which one you want to boot into.

Hmm, not fully understanding what you did...

The Windows 7 file should be an .iso
Use PowerISO to burn the bootable disk.
Then, put in the disk and boot from the disk (via Boot Menu from splash screen)
The Windows 7 Installation will start up, you select the partition you made for 7, and install it on there.
    ;)

sounds like you burned the disk as a data disk instead of an image, so the disk itself has the .iso on it.

you can confirm by opening the dvd in windows if you see a bunch of folders & files it should be ok, if you just see a .iso file you did it wrong.

never failed me and did everything I need it to, cant say it sucks.

I use partition magic if I want an advanced program for some reason.
