I have a z70va and am having trouble reading dual layer dvd's. Where can I get updated firmware or driver that might help. I'm using drivers installed from windows. Is this a common problem?

    Thanks, Yuki

Your best best is Asus or the driver maker. Notebook drives do not tend to get a lot of firmware upgrades.

Are the dual layer DVDs that you can't read commercial pre-recorded (ie most movies) or ones that you have written?

If movies play OK then the problem may be the compatibility of the drive writing the DL DVDs and the media (this is still a problem with non-DL media). You need to try different media to find out what the drive will write on and can be read on other computers.

I haven't tried writing on DL so far - the price premium for the media is prohibitive.
