Well, it should be on the receipt, but if you don't have it....

Does the BT button work? Or look into Hardware properties if that says anything.

Ditto that...... it should be on your invoice, at least I know that's something we'd put on ours because it's sort of an important feature and anything a customer is paying for, they like to know is there.

On your model, you could take the two screws out of the hard drive cover and pull that off. between the edge of the computer and the rear of the hard drive should be a little metal antenna... it would contrast to the dark color of the chassis. If you can't see it, you can just slide your hard drive back and take it out for a second. There will be a werid metal rectangular piece with a wire that leads back into the system.

That's honestly the best cut and dry way of figuring it out. If you have it, then you can install the BT stack and operate it through Asus' wireless console.

October or so.... the Z70va came out about 9/5 - I remember because I had a court date in virginia for a speeding ticket that day! But it doesn't mean they ALL had it after a certain day.... some people certainly could have gotten that first shipment model well into the end of October at least... depends on where they bought it.

well only rick got 30 or so units in the first shipment none of which had bt. After that the next one came in on septermber. The sometime toward the new year they had a small shipment that didnt have bt on it. Most had bt on them. Actually i remember they were always offered without bt but rarely in stock. So ye its possible. We had to order modules. then we integrated those modules into the z63 and z71v and z70v

Right... that's why I said remove the hard drive and just check for the antenna... it wouldn't be there if BT wasn't installed.

I have a question for OP, what do you plan to use with BT?

I'm thinking of getting one, but from what I know, it's used for like wireless mouse, headphones, file transfers between your laptop/phones etc.

But isn't there already other technologies for such things and just about as convinient? I'm just wondering what would be the benefit/convinience for having a BT.

Well, if you have BT, right now I'm using a BT logitech laser mouse and keyboard and with BT 2.0, it's great... a lot better than RF. Music still sucks a bit through bluetooth, but it's a good technology and only getting better.

I sync my phone (calender, notes, contacts...) over BT and on occasion use the phone as a modem through BT. I also use a BT headset for VOIP every now and then. It's nice not having to carry around all the extra cables.

Currently I'm using the one that comes with the MX5000 keyboard, but I'm thinking of checking out the new evolution model... we got some in, but I haven't gotten to play with them yet.

The laser mouse that comes with the MX5000 is similar to a MX1000 but works on BT rather than RF.

Just curious, have you had problems with BT connections on that keyboard/mouse? Like having to press the connect button several times before it makes a good connection?

As soon as good bluetooth 2.0 headphones come out, music wont be an issue.

Right, I also have the MX1000, but prefer the connection over BT as I can get a longer range out of it.

I did have problems at first, but I think that was more along the lines of getting familiar with it. Haven't had any in the long time. In fact, my batteries just died last night while typing a forum post... so it's been 5-6 months.

I thought you all might be interested to know that I do have bluetooth. I loaded the drivers and it found the hardware. Thanks for the interesting follow-up discussion.
