Hey guys. Well, I got my G1S back from RMA and it still had the eSATA issue where whenever there was any read/write via eSATA, all the buses would reset every minute and the system would freeze for a couple seconds after every reset.

This was the following error message in Vista's even viewer:

"The driver for device \Device\Scsi\JRAID1 detected a port timeout due to prolonged inactivity. All associated busses were reset in an effort to clear the condition."

Note that the above error happened in both Vista 32bit and Vista 64bit.

Upon further investigating, I came across this thread on the ASUS forums:

It seems that there are some compatibility issues with the JMB36x controller and some external hard drives from Western Digital, Seagate, and any external hard drive that uses components similar to those in the Western Digital and Seagate drives. (Hence why my Cavalry 1TB external hard drive is having issues.)

The solution is to use Jmicron driver version 1.17.25.02 as this was the only version among the 8 versions I tested that did not give the above issue. Note that with 1.17.25.02, you will get some stuttering during video/audio playback off of the external hard drive when the drive is spinning up.

The only website that had the old driver was opendrivers.com. The Jmicron website does not have any drivers older than 1.17.45.

I hope this helps anyone with the JMB36x controller.

I have already sent ASUS an email about this since the latest eSATA drive that they have for the G1S and G1Sn is 1.17.17.

I will also be sending another email to Jmicron since I contacted them first about my issue before sending my G1S in for RMA.

    Hope this helps. :)
