Would an external HD with eSata (7200rpm) be faster than the Hard drive that comes with the G1S-A1? THe hard drive that came with my G1S-A1 is 160bg SATA (5400rpm)
Also, would it be possible to only use a external hard drive as your main hard drive? Like, disable/remove the hard drive that is inside the laptop? For heat purposes?

Wouldnt you be limiting your portability by having to lug around an external harddrive that also requires it to be plugged into a wall? Youd be better off using a desktop that way?
-
True I guess, but would the eSata be faster?

Depending on the density of the drive and it's rpm (you said 7200), it would probably be faster. I prefer to have the faster drive in the laptop and the slower one on the eSata interface (my current setup).
Some external enclosures (like my Vantec Nexstar 3) don't need to be plugged into the wall if they come with a two-usb cable. -
Well, eSATA is based on SATA300, so it's likely that it supports higher speed HDD's. And since you can use desktop HDD's they'll be faster.
eSata vs stock HDD
